Part 85: InitMAX gaugeMAX PRO widget

What's up, home? part 85: gaugeMAX Pro cover image

If you wonder why I've been so silent lately, it's because of I had my personal maintenance window going on for a month. In other words, I enjoyed my summer holiday.

While I was away from keyboard, the nice fellows at InitMAX sent me two more pro versions of their custom Zabbix 7.0 widgets: gaugeMAX and ItemMAX. I'll create separate blog posts about them and today start with gaugeMAX.

Why gaugeMAX?

Zabbix 7.0 comes with a nice gauge widget, as presented below from my home Zabbix:

Zabbix 7.0 gauge widget

However, gaugeMAX, especially with its Pro version, takes it further. If you envy Grafana's gauge visualization, envy no more, as gaugeMAX brings much of the Grafana's gauge features to Zabbix. The most visible difference between the stock gauge widget is the spark line, showing you the historical graph of the values. See what happens after I changed the home router bits received widget to be gaugeMAX, and left the router bits sent widget to default Zabbix 7.0 widget.

If I want to make the graph really pop, I can disable the transparency:

Graph without transparency

... or really really really pop, make the fill darker:

Fill level maximum

... or the other way around, with the maximum transparency level:

Just a faint line

Free version comes with the graph line, but lacks in configuration bells and whistles.

How does it configuration look like?

It has a lot going on. Most notably compared to stock widget graph, you can now tinker with the graph line settings such as line/staircase/bar styles, colours, transparency and so forth. It's also possible to make the time period to obey the dashboard value, or get its value from some other widget, or use some completely custom time range.

Thanks, InitMAX, for letting me test this great new widget! I'll be converting all my What's up, home gauges to gaugeMAX sweetness.
